Abstract
Fournier’s gangrene is a type of necrotizing fasciitis involving the perineal, perianal or genital areas that is rapidly progressive and life-threatening. Treatment involves urgent surgical debridement as well as antibiotic therapy. We report a rare case of Fournier’s gangrene of the perianal region which extended up the left pararectal and paravesical space to involve the space of Retzius. This was managed in a novel and minimally invasive approach which avoided the need for a laparotomy and its associated morbidity.
